Botanical Gardens

Headed on a last minute getaway to West Wales. On the way we stopped off at the Botanical Garden of Wales. Had a great time wandering around the countryside and parkland as well as enjoying the exotic plants in the glasshouse.
We couldn't believe the size of the place and realised we probably wouldn't be able to do all of the walks in one visit.
They also have a bird of prey centre and we got to watch some of the birds , a couple of them were quite sassy and just flew off but did eventually come back.
We made it to our cosy cottage, near Broad Haven. Looking forward to exploring more tomorrow.Read more

St Davids

Weather forecast looked good for today, so I wore a nice outfit and imagined drinking coffee alfresco. Unfortunately St Davids didn't get the memo and was cold and rainy. I had to buy some thick socks and get my hat and scarf from the car. We still had a nice day though.
Highlights were the cathedral and Mamgu's Welshcakes. Tom had savoury ones with beans and cheese!
We had a mooch around the little shops and spent a bit of time cafe hopping.
Later on we went for a very windy and rainy walk along the coast path, where we saw the birthplace of St David (St Non's chapel and well) and went round the coast path to find a lovely secluded beach (Caerfai Bay. The wind made my face hurt but it was great to get some sea air!
Hot chocolate and pastries back at the cottage were needed!Read more

Marloes

Another part of the Pembrokeshire coast path ticked off today.
Had a great day walking along Marloes beach and Martin's Haven where we could see Skomer island. It's a bit too early to see the puffins but we'd love to go back and do it another time when it's the right season (June time)
Had my brother and sister in law join us who live in the area so know all the best places to go. They also introduced us to a great cafe/restaurant called Runwayskiln where we had an amazing lunch in the sun, overlooking Marloes beach.
Weather was pretty nice today but still a bit windy and cold on the beach. We all still managed to get burnt faces though!
After lots of walking we went back to our cottage for some board games 🎲Read more

The Havens

Last day of our trip and we visited Broad Haven and little Haven.
We parked up at Broad Haven and walked along the coast path to little Haven, a really cute village with a tiny beach but amazing views. We went for a big walk along the cliffs before heading back to Broad Haven and having fish and chips on the beach.
It was really lovely and warm today as the wind had died down. Hooray!Read more
