    Exploration of London

    September 6 in England ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Hello again! This time in a short city-trip post of me and my bestie in London, a city we both swore we'd travel to together once both passports had the same, red color. And alas, here we are, over 10 years later!

Our adventure began with an uneventful journey to the airport where we were at Check In One until the easyjet app told me that an online check in was far too late. So, I started my first workout of today and ran back to Check-In Three which took me approximately 6 minutes to run. Checked in, got boardingpass, ran back.😮‍💨

After arriving in London Gatwich we caught a bolt to our hotel which took an entire hour longer than expected (2 instead of 1) and felt like an eternity in which we exchanged looks and said: "Using the public transportation" would have gotten us there sooner. And probably walking, too.🤓

After freshening up, we had a very authentic Pad Thai, walked from our hotel through Hyde Park to Buckingham Palace, our first stop.
We continued on to Big Ben where we wittnessed a demo about Free Palestine that caused quite some tumult. We even saw a guy get dragged out by four men, each holding on to one of four limbs.💂‍♂️🏋️

We exited that scene fairly quickly and walked our way to Tower Bridge, stumbling through a place JK Rowling used as inspo for Diagon-Alley in the HP movie franchise.⚡️

We ended our 20k step tour back in our corner of London eating some delicious pizza (gluten-free, yes, still delicious!) and some mozzarella sticks. Shoutout to Steve on this note.🍕

  • Harry Potter Studios

    September 7 in England ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Today was a day full of magic.✨💫⚡️

After a filling brunch that was super healthy, since London is becoming much more health-organic aware, we waited and waited for the shuttle bus to chauffeur us to the HP studios we've been talking of visiting for years.

Upon arrival, the entrance did not disappoint: the giant dragon from movie number 7 guarding the volts at Gringotts Bank (I'm disappointed in you if you don't know what I'm talking about😒) hung from the ceiling in all its might.🐉

We spent a total of 3 hours in the tour, checking out everything check-out-able.

Our bolt drive from the Studios back to our hood was very informative as we had a nice conversation with the English-Jamaican lad recommending Carribean Ox-Tail.🐂

We ended up eating Lebanese: WHICH, hands down, was one of the best choices in restaurants and food ever. We had around 6 different mezze (appetizers), one of which was the best hummus I've ever consumed. Yum, yum, yum. So much different tastes all blending together: just the way I love eating.😁

My bestie told the waiter that their version of Baklava was too dry compared to the Turkish one and she therefore didn't like it. I happily ate her serving too.😎

I was near belly-explosion but the food was worth it. Slept much better the second night, too!

  • A Day full of Sweat

    September 8 in England ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Oh my god. I'm writing this in the airplane home, and the only thing I could think of that sums today up is sweat. Yes.
    Gross.
But you'll figure out why soon enough.😮‍💨

We had a breakfast-y lunch in a cute café, where I ate a poached-egg-avocado toast and French Toast with maple syrup because the scale isn't showing me enough kilos yet😂 Yes, note the sarcasm.

Drank a red-velvet latte, had a pistacchio latte on the house because the Tunisian waiter liked us enough to also play a song titled "Natalie" after he asked where we were from and what our names were.☕️

We walked back to our hotel where I packed almost all my things and made our way to Paddington Station.🚉

I boarded the train to Farringdon, said goodbye to my bestie and drove 10 mins to my platform change. At this change I figured hey, now's a good time to double check where that little red booklet is called my passport and the most important thing besides my phone.📲

And... yes, you guessed it. It was NOT in my bag. It was in that dumb little drawer next to the bed at the hotel. Okay, shit, what do I do?
I need to get back. Fastest way back? A bolt, car ride.
Turns out: no, bad idea, in the car I saw the ride would take 54 minutes. I cancelled the ride, apologizing, my blood beginning to heat up and sizzle with anxiety.
I run back to the station, not sure which direction to go. I figure it out, run to the platform, get into the train. My bestie is running from Hyde Park, where she was supposed to relax, to the hotel so we can meet half way.

I realize I'm in the wrong train - GREAT, even better! That's what happens when you don't pay attention and keep your cool. Okay, I get out, thank god I have internet here, the next train back to Farringdon is on platform 2.

It's 12 minutes late. 12 minutes I can use to chill out, while my poor bestie is running for my life.
While I'm in the train to Farringdon, she rushes from the hotel to Paddington Station where she catches the train to our meeting point.

She gives me my passport and just two minutes later, I board the CORRECT train to the airport. My lifesaver.🥹🥹

And, since the universe, god, the stars and the spirits work in mysterious ways.... my flight was delayed.🤣🤓

BUT I'M ON MY WAY HOME
WITH MY PASSPORT NOW AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.🇨🇭
