    Lets go to Metz

    October 2 in France ⋅ ☀️ 8 °C

07:30 was the start of our roadtrip. Well, if you start counting from when Luke and I started packing our things into the car, rather than picking up our friends.

But, thankfully, people who know us calculate 20 minutes extra because Luke and my time runs differently.🤓🕰️

Our drive was spent talking, catching up and enjoying each others presence.🚗

First stop was Metz, France, where we asked a waitress in a restaurant if we could have drinks, to which she plainly said: NO.
After asking if we could at least use the bathroom... she said NO WE'RE A RESTAURANT as walked away. Friendly French, eh?

A few photos and videos later we hit the road to get to Luxembourg!🇱🇺

  • Luxembourg

    October 2 in Luxembourg ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

Luxembourg was a little underwhelming. We expected a little more - but it was still cute.

The restaurant we had lunch at looked a lot nicer than the prices were!🤑🫰

And even though the restaurant wrote on the menu that they serve lunch from
11:30 to 15:00 they cut our appetizers when we sat down at 14:00.🥲

But! We saved money so that was a plus.🤪 Our journey continues as we make our way to Brussels with an old gramps riding in style.

    "They see me rollin'...."

  • Brussels

    October 2 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

    Wheeeee arrival in Brusselsssss!
First stop after parking our car on a hill: the EU parlament building.

And, just like in Australia (Tschäsmin) and London (my previous trip) there were "Free Palestine" demos and movements that pulled hundreds of people to one place.

Feeling a little overwhelmed, we quickly made our way to the palace in Brussels and then to an Italian restaurant that made good of their pigeons.

"Qucurucuu" was one menu called: and since 3 out of 4 didn't find anything suitable to eat, we left the restaurant having chucked down a bottle of expensive water.💦🦆🕊️

The second restaurant we went to was also Italian, even though the waiter was clearly French. How did we realize this even though he repeatedly said "grazie mille"?

Jasmin asked if she could have a Pizza Prosciutto, to which the waiter said they only have the pizzas on the menu card.

She ended up taking a pizza that had ham on it called "Regina" and asked if the onions and other ingredients could be left out, which was fine.

I figured the waiter had no clue what "prosciutto" meant because a lot of pizza's had ham on them. 🥩

Steve ordered pizza hawaii with mushrooms, Luke a pizza with extra mascarpone and I had a margherita with salami. The waiter said we were a special table🤪

We had some leftovers that we brought back to the hotel, showered and went to bed in a real nice air bnb. 10k steps and we were tired!

  • Brunching and Laughing

    October 3 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Eating brunch in Brussels turned out to be a highlight of our trip. At least for me.

    Why, you might ask?

Well... as I mentioned in my previous post, we had leftover pizza that we brought back to the hotel.

In the morning, Luke who ate all his pizza reminded us that it was in the fridge.

At brunch I suddenly wondered... what ever happened to the pizza?

I mentioned Luke reminding us and looked at Stev, he looked at me... I said "I didn't feel spoken to", to which Steve nodded, started laughing and said "I didn't either."

Then Jasmin added, "I even looked at it this morning but closed the fridge again."

The absurdity of it made Steve and myself laugh for about 5 minjtes straight.

Good start into the day I'd say!🍳🥞🍕

  • Den Haag

    October 3 in the Netherlands ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

And from Brussels we continued venturing out farther into northern territory... until coming to a stop somewhere with pretty flowers, the coast and a place called Den Haag.

Yep, we arrived in the Netherlands!

Apart from windy and partially rainy weather there's not much to today that I can say except that I lost a round of UNO which was entirely unfair.🥸
