Well I came here to learn more about the Cathars......the incredible story of how after the city was razed by the Albigensian Crusade..... our own Simon de Montfort being one of the principal belligerants.....the Cathars were given the chance to renounce or be burnt.....that night over 2000 chose to go to their deaths in front of the city gates and they had to queue for a pyre to be burnt on. Not one word about the Cathars here.....the guide I asked admitted it was a French word and I was pronouncing it correctly and they knew there had been a crusade but seemed confused that it was not against Islam.....oh well....Read more
