Picked up from hotel in a bus to the port (Piraeus). A million people queuing for all the ferries at the port to the islands. Boarded the ferry this am and yes it is like the instagram posts, masses of tourist with luggage board the boat ( its not even peak time) leave your case in the bottom of ferry and hope its still there at the end of the trip. Pre book ferry tickets so you have allocated seats, kiosk on board, on some Ferries you can go outside. Sea Ferries are great, mixed reports but they are a bit faster and fine to travel in. Get the app, its great for ticketing and schedule updates. Arrive at chaotic ports 1000s coming and going. Look like you are lost and a random uber driver will get you to your hotel and organise a pick up back the next day (even if there are 9 of you & its an 8 seater car) Barter for fee, but always tip, cash is King.

Elena Hotel was beautiful, great roof top views, amazing location, fantastic food. Walk to all locations including the windmills, Little Venice (homes/bars on the water front), old port, townhall, church Pangia. Negrita and all the bars quiet during the day but music & vibe pumping into the night, could hear it from our hotel.Read more
