• Santorini-Oia & Ammoundi Bay

    May 30, 2025 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Oia is the most visited village in Santorini. It sits high on a cliff overlooking the volcano, Nea Kameni. Still present are the ruins of a Venetian Castle, Castle of St Nikolas, built in 15th century. The Castle Fences are covered in padlocks. Oia so picturesque with white washed houses and labyrinth-like alleys, blue domed churches & packed with tourists. Donkey Beer is the local ale. 🍻
Below the cliffs of Oia is Ammundi Bay. A free bus takes you down & back a the long track to the Bay. It was a quaint fishing village but now a busy boat port with amazing water front sea food restaurants. Around the rock corner is a popular ledge to jump off (Jacko & Luke). A great bay to sit & sip Expresso Freddos☕️
