  • Meet the Peterings at Broken Hill

    August 19, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Early wake up 0 degrees in SwanHill, ice on the ‘Ice Box’. Travelled through Nyah (Angie & Bruce Roadhouse), past Ron Dehne Ford Tractor Collection (for dad)🚜
Excited to meet the Peterings in Broken Hill to start another amazing Adventure together🎼🍻🥂🔥🕺
Travelled out to Mundiville via Silverton, via multiple dips in the road ++++
In Jen’s words “We experienced 5 days of precision organisation of a function that had around 15,000 people camped out in someone’s paddock”⛺️
We set up our camp (53) . Amazing co-ordination of volunteers to get everyone in & happily settled.
Checked out Mundiville before tea by the campfire.

  • Mundiville

    August 20, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

    More exploring of Mundiville.
Multiple food vans including pizza🍕mex🌮 indian, BBQ, schnitz, burgers🍔Vietnamese, dumplings, ice-cream 🍦coffee☕️. Retail tents with camping gear, jewellery, crafts, hats, shoes, Merch for MMB & Bands.
So many activities for kids & adults. Camel rides 🐪 animal petting zoo, helicopter flights🚁
No showers here but multiple compostible drop toilets. Amazing volunteers keep these clean & the sawdust bags full. Words to Australian songs decorated the toilet doors.
Mundi’s Got Talent Show was held in the Plaza hosted & judged by The Crack-Up Sisters & Co. These girls were full on through out the entire event. When the concert gates opened we set up and were entertained by DJ Master Baitz (entertained every day).
The Headliners were a brilliant band of talented musicians with various disabilities, inspirational⭐️
Then Chocolate Star Fish rocked the entire arena with a 90 minute show, the mosh pit & the crowd belting out their songs🎼🎼🎼

Todays morning event was the Big Blue Day 🩵 to support Beyond Blue and the Royal Flying Doctors.
We headed to the concert area where the Volunteers once again co-ordinated 9161 people to stand within the outline of the Map of Australia. We were at the top of WA on the coast, near the NT border. 🇦🇺
This event was recognised as a World Record for the most amount of people standing in the shape of a country🏆

  • Menindee Lakes

    August 24, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Leaving MMB we expected a delayed exit maybe 2 or 3 hours,
Amazing luck for us as we managed to enter the right que at the right time. Out of there in 30 minutes and on the way back to Broken Hill. Once again volunteers organised the process⭐️
Travelled to Kinchega National Park in search of a camp site away from the crowds. Set up on Pamamaroo Lake near Copi Hollow amongst the Menindee Lakes.
Explored Menindee and the Main Weir. Caught a sunset.
Spent the night reflecting on our amazing experience with our best travelling buddies “The Peterings”💗 around the campfire🔥 enjoying the serenity.

  • Kinchega National Park

    August 25, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Such a luxury this morning, a real shower at the Menindee sports ground😍
Then chauffeur driven by BP around Kinchega National park.
Checked out Copi Hollow Caravan Park. The town of Sunset Strip is nothing like the name suggests😳, not so fancy.
Discovered the historic Kinchega Woolshed, could just imagine back in the day when there was originally 24 stands in action. It was built in 1875 from Red River Gum & corrugated iron. In 1883 at its peak it ran 160,000 sheep 🐏🐑 and employed 73 men. There was a cookhouse and shearing quarters at the site.
There is not much remaining of the Kinchega Homestead on the Darling River. The remnants are preserved and the information provides a graphic description of the original buildings and other structures.
Back to camp for our last night.
