Today we walked uphill to this lovely town, which has the most beautiful very old cathedral but is really just a small country town. There are a couple of delis which suggest tourists at the weekend, but nowhere much to have dinner or buy food. Our hostal is architect designed and very lovely. When we arrived we were presented with a gift box containing a loo roll, a sponge, paper towel and variety of toiletries and cold foot get. Slightly bizarre. It was a shorter walk, but gets longer tomorrow towards the finish next Wednesday.Okumaya devam et

We are staying in a nice apartment tonight, what a treat. Home cooked food, which in a one horse town is always a huge relief.
The walk today was short again, and powered by painkillers for both of us, but after meeting a Canadian lady we came across a few weeks back who has given up due to wounded feet, I think I'm lucky. We walked uphill for the first part in cloud, and it was so sweaty I was soggy out of proportion with the effort! Lovely cloud seas and wildish horses though.Okumaya devam et

An early start to avoid the heat today, for a 27km stage to this nice hostel in the woods. We walked with Victor who is French German, Chatting helped take my mind and his off our various feet problems but I don't think it or the strong drugs helped Fiona. She is struggling to walk. Lovely countryside and woods again and a nice afternoon in the cool hostel drinking beer with the people here already. Oh and we passed the 100 milestone.Okumaya devam et

  • Sobrado dos Monxes

    21 Haziran, Ispanya ⋅ ☁️ 33 °C

Today started with a thunder storm, a 25km walk, in the cool and then the hot and a bizarre check in to a monastery where we are staying for 10 euros. The monk who checked us in is from Holland Park and tells very English jokes in quite good Spanish. He checks 6 people in at a time, so it took ages. He actually knew how to spell Cressida which doesn't often happen.
The place is very cool, which is a huge relief as it's 34C this afternoon. Only 60km or so to go now.

  • Arzua Ferreiros and Lavacolla

    23 Haziran, Ispanya ⋅ ☁️ 35 °C

It is just too hot. To sit still, let alone walk over 20km each day. But it's over! Only 10 to go in the morning and I will be in the square in Santiago experiencing the feeling of arriving there again. Yesterday from Sobrado to Arzua was along tarmac roads mainly. They radiate stored heat as well as being punishingly hard on the feet.
After an early lunch in Arzua I decided that the taxi rank outside the cafe was a sign, so we cheated on the last 7km which would have made it nearly 30. The hostel was lovely until we filled it with moskitoes by opening a window, so a disrupted night. Today was a nice walk in woods mostly, on the trail shared with the french and Primitivo routes. It's very crowded when large groups doing the last 100km come through, but by now we have worked out how to time it to avoid them. Today's hotel is lovely, 4 poster bed, huge room and coolish. The windows are staying closed and smelly backpacks and shoes in the bathroom with the door shut! The picture of the stone is actually a very loud frog.
