Old Town Main Market

This building was the original marketplace for Montevideo. Farmers came here from the rural areas to sell their farm goods. Eggs, meats and vegetables. As the area grew the market space was too small and it closed. It sat vacant for many years until it was re-invented as a market for today.
What I read said it was the cornerstone of a revitalization of the neighborhood but I don’t think it worked. But the market itself was great.
