Both islands were formed by lava but Hawaii was formed thousands of years after Oahu. The piles of lava that make up the mountains are so very different. The beaches on Oahu are sandy and, except for some that are truly surfing beaches, the waves are perfect and there is a good vibe. Lastly, Oahu has Waikiki. If you’ve never visited it’s a combination of Beverly Hills, Huntington Beach, and Carmel then mix well. The Hermes and Gucci stores set the tone and the beautiful surfer people made great viewing.
