    Tornado, flooding, winds and surf

    April 10 in the United States ⋅ 🌬 70 °F

We got on the road early this morning to hit a sweet spot between storms. We left Jackson, Mississippi and drove south and east. We didn’t hit much rain and arrived at our beach front resort hotel in Pensacola, Florida by 11:00. As we sit here on the 6th floor overlooking the gulf our alerts again go off. High surf, wind, thunder and rain arriving in 30 minutes. Hotel staff are putting away chairs, dropping umbrellas and closing the lazy river at the resort. In general battening down the hatches. It’s not a cold wind or rain so I’ve found a corner of our balcony that is protected from the wind and I’m watching the storm pass. No lightening but the wind is howling. As always we are keeping it interesting. I’m so glad we didn’t plan this as the final destination on our cross-country trip as I’d be bummed not to explore the resort and the beach. Maybe tomorrow.Read more
