Casa de Palais, Seville

From there we went to La Casa de Pilatos, an Andalusian palace which has around 150 different 1530’s Spanish glazed tiled walls. With construction starting in 1483, it has one of the largest collections of azulejo (Spanish glazed tiles) in the world.

It serves as the permanent residence of the Dukes of Medinaceli and is an example of an Italian Renaissance building with Mudejar elements and decorations. It is a beautiful place with so many surfaces tiled with beautiful ceramic tiles. The mix of patterned and colours is not something we would think would work together but it does here. It is amazing.

Several films have been shot in the Casa de Pilatos, including four Hollywood blockbusters: Lawrence of Arabia in 1962, Ridley Scott's 1492: Conquest of Paradise in 1992,, and Kingdom of Heaven in 2005. At the end of 2009, Tom Cruise filmed the movie Knight and Day with Cameron Diaz at the palace.Læs mere
