First days downtown Edinburgh

First evening arrived about 10pm went back out to see downtown Edinburgh since the Fringe Festival is on and the town barely sleeps in August. Was perfect weather cool and misty. First full day did alot of downtown Edinburgh exploring and Fringe Shows Visiting Cesean and Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man. Both were good 1 arty and a little abstract the other super silly good dirty fun. Met up with a Scottish friend I last saw when I finished my junior year of high school in Peterhead Scotland as a foreign exchange student. I am doing my Scottish travel in general with a friend that now lives in England and I met years ago in the US.Read more

More exploration of Edinburgh. More Fringe shows and walking about and checking out local sites. People abuzz everywhere. My local friend told me Edinburgh doubles in population during Fringe which is all of August. Weather is rainier and cooler very PNW reminiscent in the Fall. Checked out the inside of St. Jiles today and local museums, most of museums are free. Posters are plastered everywhere for Fringe shows. Found ones for most shows I saw. Today was The Stones, My Leonard Cohen and Space Mystery- A Mystery in Space which is the one I didn't love. Shows go from the am until after midnight each day.Read more

More Fringe shows and more exploration of local sites. Did a lot of walking around again. Edinburgh is very walkable and I enjoy passing different areas in route to more specific places. The bus system is also really great here. Saw Intervention, Kate Butch-Wuthering Shites and a Burlesque Variety Show that was in a cute little pop up tent. Toured Holyrood the Royal Palace in Edinburgh and Greyfriars and general walking and sightseeing.Read more
