Alloway is a village in South Ayrshire, Scotland, located on the River Doon. It is best known as the birthplace of Robert Burns and the setting for his poem "Tam o' Shanter". Tobias Bachope, the mason responsible for the construction of Hopetoun House, Craigiehall, and Kinross House, also hailed from Alloway.
The present Alloway Parish Church of Scotland was built in 1858, but recorded history of the church in Alloway dates back to 1236.Read more
