New Zealand 2 —Lauren (Mt. Cook)

    September 14 in New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

We hiked up to Sealy Tarns today near Mt. Cook. There were many, many stairs, and a good amount of snow on the path. We heard that, so we picked up micro spikes at Lake Tekapo—always grateful for Drew is an eagle-scout. People were sliding all over the trail, but we chugged ahead. It was a steep one, but epic views were everywhere.

We are staying at the same campground tonight. A golden pheasant greeted us as we found our spot. He made the cutest sounds asking for snacks. The stars were amazing last night—we could see the Milky Way. Hoping for more tonight. Tomorrow we will head to our next stop.

TravelerYes! The birds have been special here. Grateful for them—and definitely for my people. If only I could whisk the boys here for a few days. 💕
