New Zealand 3 — Lauren (Milford Sound)

We woke up this morning in Wānaka and were getting ready to hike when we were notified that rain forecast would affect our next campsite. We changed plans and drove all day to get to Milford Sound before the rain. The drive was so beautiful!

We got here late in the afternoon and were the only people around exploring the sound. Our van was alone in the parking lot (there are probably 15 other vans at the campground and guests at the fancy cabin rentals here.

The views are stunning. We booked a “cruise” tomorrow but heavy rains are projected so we took lots of photos today. Apparently the waterfalls are amazing when it’s raining, so the cruise should be impressive either way. There are mountains all around the place dropping off into a deep inlet of water. We will be here for 2 nights. We cooked in our van tonight, and I’m including a photo of the inside post-cooking and with laundry drying on the bed. :)

Looking forward to an amazing, wet cruise tomorrow morning and a cozy afternoon/evening. We really haven’t had a down day yet, so it will be great as long as our car doesn’t leak!Weiterlesen
