    Portugal day 4

    August 8 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Had a relaxing start to the day, Jeremy enjoyed the pool and booked Sarah a little massage.
    Then time to hit the road, Sarah drove first….very scary.
    Stopped at Nazare for lunch, unfortunately it was not the right time of yr so it was very flat but was cool seeing all the videos and surfboards from the surfers.
    Then did a quick lunch at McDonald’s, Jeremy was happy they use real chicken for their nuggets but they only have 1 drink option….coke.
    Back on the road, Jeremy took over driving so that we would actually get there, and we arrived at Lagos in time for dinner.
    Walked through the old town, very busy, all the tourists here, and found a nice restaurant, and they finally served Portuguese chicken!

  • Portugal day 3

    August 7 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

    Woke up and had breakfast, the little family running it had family drama and all left so we checked ourselves out and went to our port tastings! First stop Quinta da Bomfim, great views and we bought a few to bring home!
    Then driving back we watched a cruise boat go very tightly through a loche and drove to a lovely lookout.
    Next was Quinta da Pacheca where we checked in quickly and then headed to our next port tasting.
    We enjoyed a tour of the grounds and relaxed by the pool until dinner, Jeremy’s second favourite meal so far!

  • Portugal day 2

    August 6 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

    First stop bakery and coffee today, then picked up car, took nearly an hr for them to find our car!
    Then hit the road, visited Guimarães Castle and then kept driving to Douro Valley. So many wind mills. Had a chicken wrap and fries for lunch…
    Stopped at a supermarket, Jeremy was very excited to get his bread cut…until it started!
    Arrived at accommodation, a little (its huge, they own all the vineyards on those mountains in-front of pool) family owned winery, with beautiful views all around. Enjoyed the pool for the afternoon!

  • Portugal day 1 - part 2

    August 5 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Saw the viral imperial Maccas with its chandeliers and stain glass windows.
    Then Sarah got some fresh Portuguese tarts and Jeremy got some Portuguese sweets.
    And back to collect the drying and do folding.
    Visited Bolhao Markets, Sarah had some cheesy spaghetti for lunch, and Jeremy had smash potatoes.
    Walked down past Parliament House and to the river to have a little rest in the shade.
    Back to hotel for a quick refresh before heading down for our 6 bridges river cruise. Very interesting and beautiful during sunset.
    We were going to head to a popular hill for sunset…but glad we changed our minds after seeing the crowds there.
    Had steak for dinner….Jeremy has decided to stick to chicken for the rest of the trip….
    There is an ice cream shop around the corner from our hotel that has had massive queues all day, finally the line was half the size and Jeremy was about to get his daily stracciatella at 10pm.

  • Portugal day 1 - part 1

    August 5 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    First stop this morning was Livraria Lello, a very ‘Harry Potter’ looking library.
    Then it was washing time!
    Next we explored the streets of Porto, we found alott of sardine shops!
    Visited a Igreia do Carmo, with its beautiful painted tiles and Igreja dos Clérigos.Read more

    August 4 in Greece ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

    Lots of sight seeing today, first stop Mandrakia beach, which is an old fishing village.
    Enjoyed walking past the big line up for Medusa. Jeremy did some fake smiles for all those that say I don’t smile.
    Then off to Klima, rainbow fishing village, they’re all airbnb’s now.
    Went to Sirocco for lunch, we had been trying to book dinner there for a few nights but it is always booked out. We mentioned it to our hotel manager and she rang the owner and got us a table!
    Best meal Jeremy has eaten over here, he was very happy we went there!! Shame it was the last day!!
    Then visited a small beach in Adamatas before we returned the car and went to the airport!
    Flight was on island time but luckily still made our transfer and arrived in Portugal at 12am.

  • Milos day 5

    August 3 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Up early to hop on our boat tour of Kleftiko.
    White rock is sulphur and the little caves higher up are where they used to store food.
    Was extremely beautiful with multiple caves and spots to swim through, water crystal clear.
    Ended by swimming in an alcove of volcanic rocks, they make a natural hot spring, the sea water was hot!
    Then back to accommodation to refresh, and off to Sarakiniko beach again for sunset!

  • Milos day 4

    August 2 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Went to Sarakiniko beach (moon beach) in the morning, it was extremely windly so we left and went to Plathiena beach on south side.
    Went to O’hamas for lunch, and then enjoyed boat watching on Pollonia beach.
    Got some delicious baklava and walked around the head to watch sunset. Before heading back to Pollonia beach for dinner.

  • Milos day 3

    August 1 in Greece ⋅ 🌬 26 °C

    Nice sleep in today, then off to Plaka to hike up to the church.
    Best views from up there!
    After the hike we explored Plaka and had some lunch.
    We spotted a great beach while we were up there so made that out next stop.
    Then back to accommodation to refresh before we lined up to get into Utopia…a very popular sunset bar.
    Views were great and met some Greek ppl that gave us some good tips for the next few days!
    We then drove to O’hamas for dinner but it was another long queue so we drove back to Pollonia and had some delicious lemon chicken.

  • Milos day 2

    July 31 in Greece ⋅ 🌬 25 °C

    Went out for coffee.
    Then headed to the beach! There’s a strong wind so went to south side of island.
    First beach was Provatas, it was packed, nowhere to put a towel down.
    So we headed to Filaplaka, this beach was less crowded. We went for a swim, water was nice and refreshing.
    Then headed back to Adamatas for lunch, where we had gyros and chicken.
    Then back to accommodation to have a shower, explored Pollonia and got some more coffee.
    Next we went back to accommodation to quickly book our dinner, watched sunset and headed to dinner at Akrotiri. Jeremy had lamb and Sarah had spaghetti. We also tried a cheese pie - very delicious.
    Final stop, the bakery to get the viral chocolate cake, we got it take away, headed back to accommodation and ate it while we watched a movie. Very yum!

    Sleep in today..woke up at 7:30am.
    Enjoyed breakfast, went for a walk to get coffee and had yet another great view.
    Walked around the shops and did some shopping!
    Got some lunch then headed to the port to get our ferry.
    Sarah already feeling sick in car…
    Wind picked up today so it’s going to be a rocky journey.
    Chaos getting onto the ferry, then some massive waves, lucky Sarah had kwell and was fine, everyone around us was throwing up.
    Explored a little bit of the port, saw another beautiful sunset and had a delicious dinner.

  • Santorini day 3

    July 29 in Greece ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

    Woke up early and saw sunrise (and a proposal).
    Rode to Oia and went to 3 domes look out. 7am at the lookout was not early enough…we were in line for 40 mins.
    Beautiful views during breakfast.
    Rode down to Ammoudi bay and went for a swim. Water is so refreshing and clear! Too hot to stay by 10:30am.
    Saw some octopus they caught nearby.
    Came back to Fira for lunch, dropped off buggy and explored another section and got gyros for lunch.
    Relaxing at accommodation for afternoon.
    Sunset and city lights were stunning once again.

  • Santorini day 2

    July 28 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

    Woke up early to get a picture of the blue dome.
    Back for breakfast at the accommodation.
    Then explored Fira and saw an Orthodox Church, library and a lot more markets.
    Jeremy then hired a buggy and we drove to Perissa for lunch. Explored the beaches there.
    Drove to the lighthouse, past some original houses, view was beautiful.
    Stopped at a market on way back for some ice and watermelon.
    Sunset at accommodation with watermelon and cold drinks!
    Saw a cute outdoor cinema playing Mama Mia.
    Lights of Fira from just outside the restaurant.

  • Athens > Santorini

    July 27 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Up early to catch a flight to Santorini.
    Stracciatella for breakfast.
    We took the local bus to Fira, Sarah misread the map and we had a 20 min uphill walk on the cobblestone stairs with our all our luggage.
    Finally arrived at accommodation - very nice.
    Explored a little bit of Fira and had gyros for lunch.
    Enjoyed the pool and view for the afternoon.
    Pre-sunset drinks at Volkan. Sarah had some delicious meatballs and Jeremy had hand cut chips.
    Back to accommodation for sunset. Largest sun we have seen.
    Stracciatella for dessert.
    Jeremy went for walk for coffee and found a great view of Fira lit up at night.

  • Athens

    July 26 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Out early this morning to meet our tour group, walked up and around the Acropolis, Parthenon and museum.
    Jeremy very much enjoyed hearing all about Greece mythology for 4hrs.
    He then enjoyed his second stracciatella of the trip.
    Gyros and steak for lunch, then walked around Monastraki markets, very busy there.
    Had a little nap, then out to dinner and finding coffee at 11pm.

    Short lay over in Dubai, we ran into Rick and Rona Steel
    Arrived in Athens, checked in and went for a walk around Plaka. Jeremy enjoyed his first stracciatella of the trip.
    Walked up to Aregapus Hill for sunset (with every other tourist).
    Dinner at Lyra, we both had Lamb shank, was delicious.
