Bentota

Today we experienced the Sri Lankan railway which was definitely an experience. We had 2nd class tickets and once onboard the train we had to find seats on the already busy carriages. Thankfully we found 2 seats and we enjoyed the scenery on the way to Bentota. When we arrived we walked to the Centara Hotel and were greeted by a large Water Monitor which is a large lizard... John was less than impressed! In the afternoon we took a walk around Bentota and found that it was a really poor little town with little to do and quite a lot of people pestering us for tours and shops.Read more
