Delhi

The temperature was just 11 degrees on arrival (13 when we left Heathrow) and it was strange to see woolly hats and thick coats. It was also pretty hazy.
We had our first introduction to Delhi traffic on the journey from the airport. Eventually we reached THE PARK hotel, passing many posters celebrating 25 years of ASEAN and the visiting Prime Ministers from ten countries.
After a catch-up snooze we decided to head out for a little local familiarisation. We’d not gone far before a chap from the hotel staff recognised us, suggested we avoid an area where there had been protests the previous day, then ordered us a auto-rickshaw and got the driver to take us to some shopping. This adventure took us to two shopping complexes where we were shown most magnificent carpets, materials, ornaments and jewellery. We were in buying mode, but it was an interesting experience.
