    Motorways day

    Today's mile munching day was 545 miles , poor Brian though I was trying to break him. Left the docks at 11am got to our hotel on the outskirts of Munich at 8pm. Weather was sun shine most of the way, then last 2 and a half hours was rain.Read more

    In to the Alps

    Over into Austria and stop to buy a toll sticker for the bikes. Then up into the Austria Alps. The weather was all good until our destination up in the mountains the Grossglockner. Then the rain got so bad that it was just stupid to keep going. We hid a bus shelter for a bit. Once the thunderstorm was gone, it turned back into a nice day. 240 miles done today. Found an amazing road to our hotel, very twisty that followed a river up a valley. So Brian Black was happy.Read more

    Passes in Slovenia

    Weather was misty going over the passes. The cobbles on hair pin bends!!!!! In the wet!!!!! Ended the day with good weather, followed by good food and cold beer.

    Down through Croatia

    The day started out with rain, but finnished with it hitting the low 30s c. We some how ended up on a gravely road for a bit. No problem to the Africa Twin and the Tiger
    Brian couldn't do the skywalk. The food at the local restaurant was good, the accommodation was good. So yet another top day.Read more

    Leaving the EU and going to Montenegro

    As soon as we set off today we were too hot , 25c at 8am. Left Coratia, Passport stamped. Arrived at Montenegro border control, which took about 30 seconds. 3 questions, 'you Greig ', 'you tourist ', ' your moto'. A stamp in passport and gate opened. Then, a drive around the bay that Kotar sits on. Stopped off at a submarine pen from WW2. We then headed up to the hills again. The R-1 road was something else. No more than a single track road with lorries and coaches using it. Thankfully, us on motorbikes made it easy. Then we headed to the hotel. We were directed onto a road still under construction by the workers. A few miles on yet more gravel. The roads are yet again amazing.Read more

    In to the mountains again.

    Today's run out took us in to the mountains, done 3 passes including the highest in Montenegro and 4 gorge roads. In the Durmitor national park. Miles done was 200, with the temperature getting into the mid-20s. The roads are just bend after bend for miles and miles. It was our 2nd day without rain, all ways a bonus. Brian Black is broken a bit more but enjoying it.Read more

    In to Albania

    Well, what can I say about today. Took the mountain roads from Montenegro to Albania. All amazing again. Left Montenegro ok, crossed in to Albania ok. Was told the insurance booth was 2 km along the road, but there was a fork in the road. We obviously took the wrong road, then tried the other. Found said insurance booth,but it's closed and looks to have been for a long time. No phone signal, then by chance stopped to think about or options and had a wee bit of reception. A Google of the company took up their offices around Albania. Was one in the town we planned to stay at. So we had a 100-ish miles of a drive with no insurance. It was an amazing road tho. Got the insurance min of 50 days cover cost 13 euro. Found our accommodation, it was only booked 2 hours earlier. Followed instructions to call the property owner, only for them to keep hanging up. Called booking,com and they sorted it. The Albania drivers are nuts. Coaches over taking us on blind bends for one. Walked to the local Spar for supplies, to have a young woman pester me for cash. This place is an eye-opener.Read more

    First full day in Albania

    Today was a short run up to 'Theth' and back. 107 miles in total ,shortest run yet. Temp hit 33c once back down from the mountains. Felt like getting blasted in the face by a hairdryer if I stood up on the bike to get some air. The Albania drivers are mad on the single-track roads. Brian Black was beeped at for being on his side of the road , but the local cut the corner and blamed him. I had to go off roading to miss a local driver just not enough tarmac for them and me.Read more

    Mission completed!

    Up early and headed to the mountains, to catch a ferry. Arrived 1st in the queue. So was waiting on the boat an hour before it set sail. Nice views spoilt by the litter in the water. The same goes for the whole of Albania. Got off the ferry 4 hours after getting on it. Next stop was a cafe for cold coke and ice cream. The road to our final destination of Puke was another amazing road. So that was the tour mission completed, 'Puke' you were an amazing wee town. Took us 2464 miles to complete the tour mission. Was only 120 miles on the bikes today and temperature hit 34c for a wee while.Read more

    Leaving Albania

    We left Albania heading for Montenegro, through it to Coratia. Or so we thought, we actually ended up in Bosnia by mistake. Before getting to Coratia. The temperature today was 34c or for a while 35c. With still hours of riding left to get to our accommodation. We decided to cut it down and use the motorway. With about 230km on the motorway. We arrived hot and thirsty much earlier.Read more

    North through Croatia

    Heading north through Croatia on the coastal road, then up to the mountains to some viewpoints. Before getting back on the twisty coastal road. We ended the day with a final blast on motorway. Temperature was up to 31c, but still hot to ride in. Cold drinks and ice cream helps.Read more

    Heading to Munich

    Run up to Munich form Pula took us in to Slovenia, Italy, Austria and in to Germany. Mostly on motorway, was held up by a road closure. Thankfully we could lane split to the front. Had to stand around in the fast lane for a bit. Then was again held up around Munich 5 lanes of traffic at walking pace, more lane splitting got us past 100s of cars.Read more

    Through Germany

    Another mad miles day on the Autobahn. A thunder storm found us today, it was so bad had to pull on to hard shoulder. Couldn't see more than a few meters in front. Had the server in the services getting mad when trying to pick up our 'big sausages '.Read more

    Heading to the ferry

    Last day riding in Europe, left to go to the Overloon war museum on the way to the ferry. No rain today and temps in the high teens. We got our last stamp of the tour in our passports and on to the ferry to get some well deserved cold beers. Poor Brian was by now suffering badly with his 'man flue'.Read more
