of Candy Barr! We all had heard a story that Paul's daddy told of Candy Barr. The story goes....that in her later years spent time living in a trailer in Helena. She went by her real name; Juanita Dale Schlesinger. We are now on the grand research project for the potential Historical Marker- lol. Famous strippers need historical markers too.Read more

For the past 27 years, the first Saturday in November, the George West, Texas square around the courthouse is filled with storytellers, musicians and LIARS! They all perform on three stages under tents throughout the day. We have been trying to get there for a decade. November 2015 we arrived to enjoy it all. George West has been recognized by the Texas Legislature as The Storytelling Capital of Texas.Read more
