    First impressions

    20. oktober 2025, Polen ⋅ 🌙 8 °C

    The start was quite harsh..and veeery stressful 🫣 I had to work in the morning an
    Mom missed her connection 💺🚆 to get to Switzerland 🇨🇭due to a medical emergency (not hers 🙏🏽!) and arrived with a two hour delay which made our “let’s meet early to make it easy” definitely futile. 😅😂
    We managed to get to the airport with a taxi 🚕 - 5 min prior to the Gates’ closing.. oufff 😮‍💨
    Yeah - I love stress… 🤐🤪

    First impression while descending 🛬 :
    lots of green and so much water - nice.

    Apartment 🏠:
    yiihaa, lucky punch, given the fact I booked it yesterday in quite a rush 🤭🤫

    Food 🥘🍲:
    One word - Wow! For all of you who like to eat hearty traditional dishes..this is for sure a good place. We had Pierogi (oh my god I LOVE THOSE DUMPLINGS!!!😍) and Lamb chops with a jam and pumpkin sauce.. yummy…hmmm..

    Old Town vibes 🏰☕️🚶🏻‍♀️ - getting along

    …means skipping the taxis 🚕 !
    Kraków’s Old Town is made for wandering around and “feel” every cobblestone 😂😅..and yeah, they 👣 will definitely hurt at the end of the day 🤪

    • lots of green and parks everywhere 🌳☘️🍂🌿🍃🍁 to witness autumn arrive
    • soooo (!) many churches ⛪️ that we stopped counting
    • characteristic architecture and historic streets, both nice and sad to remember…
    • food 🦆🥟🍲 that really surprised both of us 👌🏽 - again
    • the river Vistola night tour 🌃⛴️ was overpriced, loud and could have been skipped 🤷🏻‍♀️
    • talented buskers 🎻🎷🎼🪗 who merit to be listened to even if just for a bit
    • karaoke bars spread all over - or was it just us finding them?! 😅
    • winning 🙌🏽😂 at UV minigolf 🟡🟢🔴🟣🔵🏌🏻‍♀️🏌🏼‍♀️⛳️
    • aaand best part ☝🏽… weather that played along 🙏🏽🥶⛅️☀️

    What I personally missed most was a proper sunset or a place to oversee the city during the golden hour..but perhaps it was just me not putting too much effort in finding one 😅🙄    Læs mere

    Wieliczka Salt Mine

    Just a short train ride from Kraków, this is one of those places that feels straight out of a dream 🤩! Descending 👣👣 deep underground (heheheh…almost 500 steps but don’t worry there’s a lift to get back up 😝) you’re greeted by cool, salty air and a maze of tunnels & chambers carved entirely from salt (insane!!!😍) . And given the fact that you visit less than 1% of the mine, you can only imagine its importance.

    An absolute highlight for me and my mom was the Chapel of St. Kinga, which is a really breathtaking underground church where even the chandeliers sparkle with salt crystals 🤩🤩Standing there feels quite surreal, almost like stepping into a hidden world… aaaand they do allow getting married there - 135m below the surface..😅 definitely nothing for claustrophobic people…..

    If you’re planning a trip to Kraków, don’t miss this 🙃! ➡️ Every corner tells a story of centuries of mining and craftsmanship and is - quite rightly so - a unique UNESCO World Heritage site that definitely merits a visit.    Læs mere
