• Day 73 - BFN to BFN/Echuca to Dimboola

    October 6 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

I woke up to a very thick fog. This was about 7am, so I had a bite to eat, a shower, read the news online and eventually decided to leave around 9am.

It was still thick fog and to be honest it was somewhat worrying given all night I was hearing trucks scream on by.

Thank goodness, 10kms up the road the fog cleared. The sight in the rear view mirrors was amazing.

Saw a cyclist heading east and a walker with a cart heading east.

Getting numerous phone calls from Gail, BRI, Jarryd and the Fantastic Five was a great way to relieve the boredom.

I arrived at the border and of course a quarantine officer is required to inspect for contraband (animal and plant matter that is, not necessarily drugs or tobacco).

Some time ago we purchased a couple of plastic spiders to entertain Peter. One of these was sitting on the bench which scared the living daylights out of the quarantine officer.

    Finally……some decent roads.

I pulled into a road stop about 50 kms east of Balladonia, which leaves me just under one thousand to go.

Whilst the annoying allergen affects have subsided I’m pretty I may have RSV now. I don’t think I’ve ever sneezed so much in my life. Gail has tested positive for it back home.

I didnt feel much like eating so just watched a few movies.

Today the fantastic 5 packed up and had about a four hundred km journey to Dimboola.

Karen sent me an article that lists Dimboola as one of the quirkiest towns in Oz.

One of the phone calls from the Gang was asking me to pack up and send the portable camp fire. They said it was extremely cold.

Graham sent a photo of a new camp buddy.
