    England - Welwyn Garden City

    Day 26
    Another well earned sleep in followed by brekky with Derek and Jenny. Lovely home made soda bread.
    We ventured out to the local town where Bri just happened to do some more shopping.
    We followed this up with a late lunch……Oh my Gawd….it was awesome. A beautiful old building somewhere in the vicinity of 4 or 5 hundred years old. Wonderful food and service.

    Welwyn Garden City to Stratford

    Day 27
    Another early morning to drive to Stratford for the big party. About 2.5 hrs along a number of motorways. Thank goodness for Waze. Arrived at the hotel, had a quick lunch then headed to David’s for the surprise…….and yes he was.
    Bri and Amelia knocked on the door……totally out context it took David a few seconds for him to realise who it was.
    Stayed for a few drinks, headed back to hotel to freshen up for the party.

    The view from our room

    Stratford

    Day 28
    Would have had a nice sleep in except for a bunch of pissed Aussies waking us up at sparrows fart.
    Brekky downstairs at the hotel followed by a very quick trip into Stratford so Bri could do a spot more shopping.
    Back to David and Allison’s for lunch and spent the rest of the day there and into the evening……to watch the Euro cup final. Unfortunately it didn’t come home. England were once again denied the chocolates.
    Managed to get some great shots of David and Allison’s property. It’s an extremely old manor with stables that’s been divided into a number of houses. The woods at the back are amazing    Leer más

    Final day in the UK

    Day 29
    Another early day to get ready for the drive to Heathrow. Met David and Val for Brekky (along with Sarah and Steve). Tears as usual when Gail says good bye to her English family.
    Thought we best leave early in case of the dreaded motorway traffic jams. But…..totally uneventful drive straight to the airport.
    Found a bar and plonked ourselves there till the flight. Met a lovely couple from the US. She happened to be a special needs teacher so we all know how the conversation went.    Leer más

    Singapore to combat the jet lag

    Day 30
    2, 7 hr flights with a 3 hr layover in Dubai. Was watching the promotional material on Etihad’s onboard entertainment system…..wow never thought I would consider a holiday there but may just rethink that, it looks awesome. Met up with Steph again for the journey to Singapore.Leer más

    Singapore shopping

    Day 31
    As expected, the sleep pattern was all over the place. Awake before sparrows fart and not able to sleep for ages.
    Managed to drop off eventually and then woke around 9. Gail was still sound asleep so I ventured to the pool.
    Bri was up next so we headed to the shops.
    Came back and sat around the pool for a while before eventually heading out again.
    Ended up at Boat Quay for dinner for a great meal. Things must be quite tight at the moment given the number of free drinks we were offered.
    The state of origin resulted in a few large cheers every so often so we were obviously surrounded by a few Aussies    Leer más

    Singapore - the end of the adventure

    Day 32
    The plan worked. Singapore was to recover from jet lag……woke up at 12.30 today. Just relaxed by the pool until the evening when the obligatory Lau Pa Sat visit occurred. An amazing array of international food.
    Home early in preparation for our journey home tomorrow.
