    The Goat Inn

We celebrated Aunty Lona's 80th and Nick's 28th birthday at the Goat Inn, it was lovely to see family I had not seen in years and to bring everyone together. We surprised Nick with a vegan birthday cake (I think his face went the colour of Nain's dress). The Goat Inn is a lovely, old stone country pub with a rustic interior. As we had booked in advance, the pub was very accommodating and served us a 3 course vegan meal. For starter a vegetable soup which was hearty and packed full of flavour, served with warm bread rolls, for main a vegan curry containing cauliflower, potato and pineapple, giving it a sweet and sour flavour, creamy with mild spice. For desert a chocolate fudge brownie which was rich and very sticky. It was a lovely meal but after 3 courses, the food belly reared it's ugly head!Read more

    Llanddwyn Island

    Island of Relics

The island was very peaceful and quiet except for the sound of crashing waves and crickets chirping. The sun was out, making the temperature mild with a cool breeze. We walked the whole parameter of the island. We looked out by lighthouse and watched cormorants swimming and perching on the small rocky islands, we watched a silhouette bobbing up and down, breaking the surface and disappearing again which we believe to be a seal.
On the walk back, we acquainted ourselves with the wild grazing ponies who, although cautious, approached us looking for a free meal but we did not oblige. We found an exhausted bumblebee, desperately climbing a blade of grass so we took him over to a patch of flowers, where he quickly dived into the nectar, spurring him back to life and able to fly on. We found a large shore crab, half hidden in the sand as the tide was coming in; there were many curious herring gulls around and not a rock in site for him to take shelter so we relocated him to a safe environment.
