Leaving the Arctic

While it would have been easy to spend another day at the glacier, there was another storm coming (what a surprise!) and we wanted to at least get out of the fjord so we could continue making progress down the coast.
Since the wind had already picked up by the time we got to the entrance of the fjord we ducked into a little marina around the corner. Unfortunately not as sheltered as we had hoped, but a strong dock with a hot shower.
Still stormy the next day, but we sailed out anyway aiming to make some ground west and make the most of the slight east in the forecast the next day. After (yet another) rather miserable, wet, upwind sail we arrived at our planned anchorage between a few islands. These were super low lying islands with no other land protection, so we were very thankful when we found the bay nicely sheltered and a pretty spot!

Our easterly the next day ended up being a very light wind so mostly motoring. But we had some blue skies in between rain and celebrated a pretty big milestone for our trip: crossing the arctic circle, with a whiskey and a coffee.
We were headed south for the island of Lovund purely because they had a cafe with what looked like great coffee and cinnamon buns - they did not disappoint! Although they wanted a small mortgage for a bag of coffee, so we just got a little one.
