    Boat ride by James

    We went on a boat trip to the great coral reef. On the boat we got really wet and soggy. We were wondering about what the great coral reef was going to be like. I tried to force myself to have a look at the reef but I was to scared of damaging the coral. We still had fun looking at the coral near the Shaw we even saw a fully open clam.Read more

    Today we had a tour of the wild and on the way we saw a platypus it was really cute. We had 3 attempts to try and find them. They were only 30/40cm that so it was worth trying to look for them. They were really hard to spot as they were almost always under the water. I also got a toy platypus.Read more

    I had a great swim with these reef sharks and a very inquisitive bat fish. Snorkelling the reef was really amazing like being in a aquarium with no edges.

    Saw some crocs in the wild today from a boat on the river Daintree. Despite appearances apparently they never sleep...

    We visited Cape Tribulation today. I was last here as a backpacker in 1999 - I think at PK's Backpackers from the look of it - which is a bit surreal. The beach is still pretty impressive but we didn't get chance to swim in the sea. Hope to visit again before 2033.Read more

    Hi there! Today we saw a really rare species of bird, a Cassowary. it's way to defend itself is to kick with it's foot but it can be really painful if they kick you. It might slice through you. If you can see the bird has a baby chic beside him.Read more

    Tropical rainforest by Rachel

    Another amazing day exploring the tropical rainforest and seeing some of the places significant to Cook's journey along the coast, including a trip along the Daintree river to see crocs. When they discovered how old the forest was with plant species dating back to prehistoric times, they stopped chopping it down. Although if you bought land there back in the 60s you can still build... The photo of a tree is one which flowers all the way up its trunk, designed so dinosaurs could eat without knocking the whole thing over to access the canopy. Leaves are BIG. The number and variety of birds here is unbelievable. Cockatoos, many different types of Kingfisher, the bowerbird who builds an elaborate avenue of twigs decorated with stones with no purpose other than to impress the lady birds, etc etc - and I'm not a huge bird fan. I would love to spend more time in the rainforest. It all feels a bit rushed. The first photo is natural art created by the sand bubbler crab.Read more

    I have been struck by the abundance of wildlife here. Bird watchers in the UK are a very patient bunch. You go into a bird hide here and the number of different birds milling around outside is overwhelming, whenever I have been into a hide in the UK I have felt fortunate to see a duck. Walking around the rainforest feels like time travelling with some incredibly old species of plant and scenery that hasnt changed much for 1000s of years. A very special place that I would love to spend some more time discovering.Read more

    A Quokka to stroke on arrival and Funi and Wang Wang the giant pandas to watch. Also one of James's favorite animals, the wombat. What a wonderful place. All the animals seem happy, as does James! We saw a tiger being checked over in the animal welfare centre.Read more

    Today we saw a massive panda at the zoo called Wang Wang. We were just in time to see Wang Wang eat his food and while a lady was commentating another lady was putting panda cake that the pandas really liked to eat. We saw the panda eat a piece of panda cake.Read more

    A property developer, who longed to see his name in lights has 'tagged' all the buildings he owns, so you see 'Polites' all over the place here in Adelaide.
