    Arrived on Ocean Albatros and moored offshore between Sy Marys and Tresco Islands. A beautiful cloudless day. Took local tender ashore and joined a short walking tour of Hugh Town. A narrow strip of land with the harbour on one side, and a perfect beach the other.

    Perfect small island town. A port, a few pubs, shops etc. 1 hospital. The school, where secondary kids come in from the islands and board as they can't get home.

    Sports fixtures are played within the school, and with mixed age groups and possibly sexes!

    World gig racing championships on this weekend, the busiest week of the year here, so all accommodation, flights, ferries etc jammed packed.

    The ageing ferry, The Scillonian, pulled in as we left. Due to be replaced in 2026 she has a love/hate relationship with the islanders. Only running from March to October, and notoriously unstable in weather, she is the main link to the outside world for the Islanders, apart from a few 16 or 8 seater flights that come in from Land's End, Newquay and Extere every day ( a steady stream while we were there) as well as a few few helicopters.
