Typica Andalucian town. Pretty white washed houses. Narrow streets. Old castle atop hill. Castle turned into unusual hotel. Our room is in turret. Has 4 poster bed.

Pleasant but not outstanding walk. Small farms - olive trees, oranges, avocados, pomegranates. Mostly fenced and often with big dogs

  • Vulture walk

    November 11, 2022 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Caminito Dell Rey is a well known walk, all bridges and suspended walkways. But you have to pay, and it was fully booked all week, so we followed another walk that runs into the hills above - great views of the gorge, the lakes and the local vulture colony.Read more

  • Zuheros gorge walk

    November 12, 2022 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Great walk, 4.5 out of 5. Up through the Zuheros Gorge following ir right wound to a couple of hidden valleys near the top. Wild apple trees of interest to the Worle family. Walked via the waterpoint at Fuente De Zarza, then along track to the Cuevas (Cue Moorish quavers joke) which you had to book so we returned to Zuheros, discovering a small zoo en-route (cue Zoohereos joke).Read more

  • Zuheros. Top place

    November 13, 2022 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

Small typical Andalucian village - but very very pretty and set at the mouth of a gorge. Narrow streets, fine views, 2-3 bars/restaurants and a couple of shops that ou can only find when they are open. Top little apartment with balcony overlooking the gorge. Caroline usettled by bathroom having glass door. Eva top host.

    Classic menu translations.

  • Capellania walk

    November 14, 2022 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Walk from Hornos to Capellania - Highly highly recommended. Start with very gentle path, through woods and a few olive groves, along path of water pipe from hills. After 10 minutes you develop spectacular views to high peaks. Winds its way for 3.5 miles to Capellania. Can only be desribed as a hamlet, 20 or so houses, more cats and a friendly dog. Caroline heaven - Malt loaf, crisps and tabby cats. Vultures circling overhead from roosts on high crags. No sign of a tarmac road to village. a few walnut trees in village and some walnuts on ground (tasty).

Interesting black shiny turds about every 500 metres on path.

Pretty village. Several bars but only 1 that seems to open. Lots of cats and top views. Raisa bar restaurant friendly. Good free tapas with a beer. Only serves pizza before 8. Strange sport area. 3 long thin enclosures withsome sort of distance making in run up area?

Bizarre. Day 6. Still haven't manage to find an ice-cream.

  • Malaga

    November 16, 2022 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

At last an ice cream. It's taken a week to find one. Very wet weather drove us from the mountains to spend 2 days in Malaga. Not my usual choice but go with it. Old castles ona hill ok. Decent views, Tour groups and unfeasibly boring audio commentary. Seemed to be aimed at PhD students of 12th century castle building. Turned it off after 3 chapters. Similar to tourist board booklets. Who rights this shit? Picasso museum good.

When eating don't sit on outside of tables, lots of hassles from beggars/musicians.

SOme restaurants have outdoor heaters, this is during COP. 1 refused to it off so we left. 20 degrees.

Decided to visit Picasso museum early evening. Needed a beer to get me through cubism. Stopped for a quick sharpener. 5 hours later much of the world looking like a Picasso painting.

Feel I have done Malaga. Won't rush back. Some people come here for a week or more???
