    Try, try again

    After the unfortunate abrupt halt to the 1st attempt to tour Scotland, Ginny is on the road again. Hopefully a couple of weeks of TLC, following the long recovery back to Wales, has been enough to give Ginny (and me) a new zest for life!

    1st stop on the way back north is the Upton Blues Festival. We've arrived in one piece and are parked up ready to explore!    Okumaya devam et

    North Yorkshire Wild Festival

    A very wet and windy week at Harrogate for North Yorkshire Wild Festival... They promised to turn the big fans off to calm the wind but it didn't happen 😂...
    Dampened spirits til Saturday night when I eventually ventured out (a little worse for wear after a Wales rugby win 🙂)...and actually spoke to a few people and enjoyed myself 👍
    Had to be towed off a very muddy field on Sunday but at least the sun has started to shine 🌞    Okumaya devam et

    Brimham Rocks

    Fantastic stop off at Brigham Rocks..Weird and wonderfully shaped giant rock formations, created by an immense river 100 million years before the first dinosaurs walked the earth.
    The rocks, sculpted by 320 million years of movement of entire continents as well as hundreds of thousands of years of ice, rain and wind, have taken on weird and wonderful shapes. With a little imagination, they resemble familiar creatures such as the Dancing Bear, the Gorilla, the Eagle and the Turtle.Okumaya devam et

    Knaresborough

    Mother Shipton, the Viaduct, a Castle and a Wasp!

    Knaresborough is full of surprises, a warren of medieval streets and stone staircases that weave their way up and down the hill. The town centre is perched on the cliffs above the River Nidd and the imposing railway viaduct across the Nidd Gorge is magnificent (I love viaducts)!
    Enjoyed a lovely walk to Mother Shipton's Cave and the Petrifying Well - Mother Shipton is England's most famous Prophetess. She foretold the fates of several rulers within and just after her lifetime, as well as the invention of iron ships, the Great Fire of London in 1666, and the defeat of the Spanish Armada. Nearby to the cave in which she lived is a petrifying well, also known as a dropping well. This is the oldest tourist attraction to charge a fee in England, and has been operated since 1630. The water of the well is so rich in sulphate and carbonate that artefacts may be put in the well to be "petrified" (encrusted)...
    Finally a climb up the steep steps to see Knaresborough Castle and the wonderful view of the viaduct and the river below ♥️

    Fountains Abbey

    Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for 407 years, becoming one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution, by order of Henry VIII, in 1539.
    In the 18th century a designed landscape of exceptional beauty was created around the ruins of the Abbey. The spectacular ruins of the 12th century abbey and water mill, the Jacobean mansion of Fountains Hall, the Victorian masterpiece St Mary’s Church and one of the most magnificent Georgian water gardens ever created, make this a landscape of outstanding beauty.
