    1st full day in Boston

    August 20, 2017 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

Today didn't start great, so just to prove how thin the walls are in this hotel I got woken up at 5am by the Spanish couple next door having very noisy sex, this was even though I had ear plugs in!?! I wasn't impressed, with the fact it woke me up and that it went on for 40 minutes!!! Really didn't help the jet lag. After a lovely warm shower, which by the way was in a bath with a shower curtain, not seen one of those in a long time! The shower curtain felt like the curtain around a hospital bed. I was drying my hair and realised that in my rush I had packed my UK hair straighteners and not my US hair straighteners... surprise surprise they wouldn't work 😔 I apologise for the photos in advance, humidity plus my hair!?! Not good.

Today was a really busy sightseeing, cultural and US history day. We left our hotel & headed to the public gardens, saw some lovely bits, the Make Way for the Ducklings sculpture, then meandered through the Boston Common, saw the Frog Pond, then we followed the Freedom Trail, saw the tombstones of Ben Franklin and John Hancock, the Boston Globe office building, had a pip stop at Beantown Pub which was a coffee bar/bar. We then followed the Freedom Trail to Quincy market, Faneuil Hall Market including the Great Hall, the Old State House where the Boston Massacre happened, before ending up at the beautiful harbour front. It was so nice just watching the world go by, seeing all the expensive boats and enjoying the sun.

After a break we then went on the subway, (yes we used the Boston subway!) it was really busy as the Red Sox were playing the Yankees at home, I checked after and they won. At one point on the subway it was like the Valley of the arm pit, I'm really not at a good height level!?! We did x2 connections on the subway before we ended up at the Museum Of Fine Art. Now I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on art but there were some amazing pieces, the place is HUGE! My personal favourite is Monet. We didn't even manage to see it all, there were 3 floors including a real good mix.

After the subway and all the walking we headed to the hotel via taxi, went back to our respective rooms to chill before meeting in the hotel lobby for cocktails in the 'library', followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant/bar. When I got back to my room after the day they hadn't replaced my used coffee cups or creamer/stirer kit, this hotel really doesn't like me! 😜

The day ended on a high, I got coffee cups, loads of packets of creamer/stirrers and a pair of pink mini travel US straightening irons, I'm easily pleased. 😀

Another action packed day tomorrow, Cheers Bar, Salem and the eclipse!

    I'm in USA

    August 19, 2017 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

    Hi,

    So I'm in the USA!!!

After all the issues with my seat I get on the plane to realise it was a 2-4-2 (A330 Dad & Paula!) so it really wouldn't of mattered. Haha! 😂 Our flight got slightly delayed as x2 people were no shows. I was sat next to a girl from Virginia though who was really nice and quite well travelled we had a good chat comparing USA and U.K. The flight was ok, was surprised to get a free bottle of water when we got on the plane. Landed in to Boston only 5 minutes later than planned.

I finally got through immigration and got my case, to x2 lovely smiley familiar faces greeting me 💕 We got a taxi to the hotel which is stunning, like a boutique hotel I guess. Although my room really is tiny!! We had a quick freshen up then headed to the Italian area of Boston for food. Before our meal we went for a walk around the area and stumbled across a street market, it was fun, lots of fish and naughty treats but resisted. The meal was nice but it was hard to eat as due to the time difference it felt like I was trying to eat it gone midnight!! On the way back to the hotel I bought some English Tea teabags as I forgot to pack some and coffee or Green Tea just isn't going to work for my morning kickstart 😀

The walls are that thin in this hotel that I could hear the Spanish guy next door on his phone... and the guy he was talking to!!! I thought they were in the corridor talking...

Right off to sleep as my eyes are closing as I write, made it to 10pm though which was my goal, been a long day.

    Manchester airport

    August 19, 2017 in England ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

    Hello,

So yesterday I checked in online for my flight ready for today, to my horror I got given a window seat. For anyone who travels on their own and especially for a long haul flight will understand my concern. When I got to the airport this morning I smiled nicely and managed to get my seat swapped to a an aisle seat 😀 Happy girl. As I'm travelling with Thomas Cook this time they'll be no wi-if in fact there is no seat back entertainment, just old school. I was spoilt with Emirates to Oz. In fairness I normally fall asleep or just listen to my music anyway.

Just at Manchester Airport have eaten my 2nd breakfast of the day, fresh fruit and orange juice... no toast! While trying to juggle everything I accidentally spilt the juice on the bottom of my t-shirt and jeans!? Luckily neither are white though I didn't move for a bit in case it looked like I'd wet myself...

Don't worry team I've got my travel bra on 😉

Just waiting for my gate, Boston here I come! Update on the other side...

    Love & big hugs,

    Not long to go...

    August 17, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Wow, so it has been nearly 12 months since I set off to Australia on a trip of a lifetime! To think that nearly a year later I would be getting ready to head off to the USA to meet up with the friends that I made on that trip... where life can take you! I've decided to do this blog after the one I did for Oz, now I can't promise it'll be interesting or that it'll work as I'm using a new app but all I can promise is that I'll give it a go!
    Let's see how it goes...
    Love & hugs x
