John had read up about the rewinding of this estate so here we are to see what it's all about. Trees for Life charity have huge nurseries and 80 - 100000 trees are grown on for wilding projects.

This is where we take the ferry in the morning! Our hotel looks out over the harbour. The tide is out right now, hopefully it will be high tide when we sail.
It's a grey day but so far it's dry! A very early breakfast, smoked salmon on toast and fruit with yogurt, keep it simple before being on a boat! Seasick pills at the ready!

The ferry arrived on schedule. Largely overcast with a good breeze as we drive across the island. The centre is very sparsely populated , rocky, with peat beds, obviously regularly cut for turves.

This OS map shows the village, we are staying about half way down the road.
A real Hebridean welcome yesterday evening and overnight..... High winds and curtains of rain. The wind whistling at any little cranny it could find... the wood burner especially!

10pm walk . No wind , sun setting, beach empty. Just perfect!
