    Overnight Birmingham Airport

    May 18–19 in England ☁️ 13 °C

    Taxi picked us up and took us to station. Arrived Birmingham International 14.30. Bag drop and a coffee break then another taxi to the hotel.
    A much needed rest then drinks and dinner. Taxi booked for 6am tomorrow when we tangle with security before our departure for sunny Skiathos at about 08.30. Late lunch in Troulos!!Read more

    Troulos beach
    Troulos beachLazy by the pool until 7pm

    Troulos beach and being lazy!

    May 19–25 in Greece ⛅ 19 °C

    Up after 9am this morning! Booted and spurred we set off to find Troulos beach. Walked along some off road tracks wall to wall lovely villas and apartments. The beach is lad back and relatively small. Sunbeds and a couple of beach bars. A rest and iced coffee later we headed back to the Villa, via the Bakery where we bought pistachio ice cream and a large salad baguette to share.
    Settled by the pool sunning ourselves, reading and finished off with a white wine sundowner before heading off for dinner!    Read more

    Villa Maria Troulos

    May 20 in Greece 🌬 18 °C

    Flight arrived on time security was fairly quick and then on to the transfer bus. We were.met at the entrance by a smiley lady who showed us our room. We have not seen her since!
    The villa is just off the main route into the village. A small pool area and gardens. Steps up and down surrounded by flowers.
    We decided to walk into town. We got directions from another guest at the villa. He told us to get the bus. We got the bus and ended up in Skiathos town! Had a walk round the port and then drinks in the sunshine.
    Bus back, shopping at local supermarket the out for dinner...moussaka and wine.    Read more

    Mixed grill!!!!

    Kookanaries Beach and Skiathos Town

    May 22 in Greece ☁️ 20 °C

    Took the packed bus to The beach. A long sandy bay with a pine tree backdrop. Went for walk to find the lake and birdlife. We eventually found the lake but had a way to go get near it. Just saw one Egret!!
    Returned on the bus and after a rest set off for the bus to Skiathos Town. Everyone on holiday in the area got that bus!!
    We had only seen the port area when we arrived so the town was an adventure. It is delight. Built up a montain but all the shops are at the bottom. Eventualky we found a small greek restaurant of the main drag. Lovely food although rather too much for two.
    The bus coming back was hilarious. Packed in like sardines. No easy way of knowing where we were as it was now dark andcwe couldn't heatr the announcements on the bus!! We did manage to exit the bus at the right place more by luck than judgement🤣

    Troulos Beach....again!

    We got up late and faffed about a bit, then we set off for Troulos beach which is nearby. Iced chocolate and then reading and sunning ourselves all afternoon.
    The weather broke and it rained a lot! We chose to go to Salt and Pepper restaurant as it was Greek night! Didn't happen. Raining too much.Read more

    Skiathos town after the rain

    May 23 in Greece 🌙 20 °C

    Rained a lot overnight. Misty and showery until about 11am. Decided to go to Skiathos town on the bus! Bus was of course rammed...
    Went walkabout, visiting virtually every shop in sight. Some beautiful fashion, jewellery, pottery, art etc. Had a coffee stop when the sun came out. Had a wander round the far side of the port and found some lovely waterside restaurants. Caught bus back to Troulos and spent the rest of the day lazing by the pool at the Villa. Headed off for dinner and now relaxing to the sound of Greek music from one of the restaurants while we have coffee.Read more

    Our hoilday was so enjoyable that there was no time to complete each remaining day on Penguins. Suffice it to say, if you want a relaxed quiet, laid back holiday Skiathos is top choice if you stay around Troulos Beach. Bus stop 18! Look it up
