A trip down to see Mum & Dad who is in Hospital, then a little diversion on the way back via Pembrokeshire Les mer
  • Day 12 - over to the east

    12. august 2021, Skottland ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

    Mark video meeting, Helen showered 👌. Lovely walk on the beach in the sun, then heading south and east to Inverness. No sites available so visited town (lovely hostelries and a great restaurant- River...) Had a nice drink and a Hebridean pizza (lamb meatballs), then found a site to stay at an hour east - West Beach, Hopeman. Great facilities and vibes. Had a sea shanty band - the Old time sailors, by the beach bar, gab, but cold.Les mer

  • Day 13 - Dolphin hunting

    Took Charlie for a walk on the beach, then a nice breakfast at the village cafe. Headed to Spey Bay to visit the dolphin 🐬 centre, but only saw1 seal and lots of birds- Scoter, Merganser, turnstones etc. Emergency brake on way back and the back seat slid right up to the front! Had Chowder and Haddock for dinner and a sing song.Les mer

  • Day 14 - Following the Spey

    Route 17 in the book, the whiskey trail. Past lots of distilleries and a lovely winding road, really quiet. People fly fishing in the river and we spotted a red squirrel! Grantown looked nice, then we headed onto Loch Tummel for our site near the Queens View. Got chatting to our neighbours who had Cardiff, Howells schools and work connections. Also had a Campervan tour from other neighbours 😆Les mer

  • Day 15 - onto Stirling

    Saw a red squirrel in the road as we left, then roughly followed Route 14. Kenmore and Killin, where we stopped for brunch, then down the very long Dukes Pass, through Callender & Bridge of Allan (both looked nice) before getting to our site, just outside Stirling (73 miles, 2.5 hrs)Les mer

  • Day 16 - Back to t'Dales

    Popped to check out Stirling and walked to the castle. Very historical and interesting. After a coffee we set off on the long drive south. Too long, had to stop twice. Note to self to break this leg up next time. Arrived at Langcliffe, just outside Settle at about 5. 4 hours 15, 193 miles. Nice site, walled 20 mins into village and had a Chilli Enchilada, then back to watch more Goliath.Les mer

  • Day 3 - the Coastal path

    Walked from our site over to Cwm-yr-eglwys and then Pwllgwaelod. A real up and down spectacular cliff walk which Helen struggled with, but persevered. Charlie knackered, had a pint or 2 at the Sailors then walked up to Dinas for the bus home. 7.5 milesLes mer

  • St Davids to Solva

    Popped to Caerfai Bay for a walk, 2 dead seals and a pup 🥲 but spotted a live one as well. Off to Solva, nice site Llangungar, walked into Solva 20 minutes and had a pint. 6.5 miles walked today 🚶‍♂️

  • Solva to Dale

    Had a lazy morning and a nice cooked breakfast (gas still going!), before heading to Dale. Stopped at Haverfordwest for supplies and a new frying pan. Arrived at Dale Hill Farm campsite - £15 for non hook-up and had a walk to the Bay, lots of birds - egrets etc, then back up the hill. 4 milesLes mer

  • West wales, Cardiff, Bala

    From Saundersfoot in the wind and rain to Swansea- Mam and Ron, then onto Cardiff. After a night with Mum headed up to Welshpool. Stayed at the Green Dragon campsite and watched the band of oldies. Lovely cross country drive to Bala, the meal and the usual evening shenanigans ending with a kebab! 😴Les mer

  • Harlech

    Arrived in Harlech, too early to check in. Walked to lovely beach for Charlie to have a run. Nothing open in Harlech so pot noodle and cheese for dinner !

    Trying to chill now, no driving. Walked 2 miles along the coast to porthtowan. Bonkers Charlie on the beach then a pint at the Blue bar and a walk up the hill back to base and lovely food

  • St Ives

    Off to St Ives via coastal road. Had a lovely day although the weather wasn't great. Busy vibe, loads of shops, eateries and gorgeous beaches. Celebrated Good Friday with a fish meal at 'By the sea'.
