    Day 2 the long wander

    Time to explore. Down to the river, then started to walk, then over an hour later we get to the Ribeira area. Gorgeous but we need a drink of iced tea. Very sore feet 😫. Walk up into town to see the sites, then back down for a beer then some food - octopus and salad. Another beer, then a bus ride (with masks). Swim in the pool, then a kfc later on! 10 miles walkedLæs mere

    Day 4 - the other side of the river

    Happy 10th Anniversary wife ! 💖 We got the 200 bus into the centre of town, really buzzing, went in the sardine shop then had a beer stop, had a special Anniversary busker request (don't dream its over). Walked over the bridge and went in a Port 'palace' and had a port and a cod fishcake. Had another beer stop after viewing the lovely market food stalls, then up the hill to wine lodge country. Popped in Taylors and another one with Fado singer. Back to the other side and had an Anniversary sangria, wine and a small meal. 500 bus back, 8 miles walkedLæs mere

    Day 5 - to the coast & out to town

    3. august 2022, Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    Got the bus to Foz and had a nice coffee and a Nata for breakfast in Tavis (briefly 🌧) then walked up to the Praia where the floating sculpture and large beach is. Back to the Mercado for wine and 🌞 finally, then bus home, for some pool time, then got ready to go out. Bar, then a meal by the river, spoiled by a bloke bullying his girlfriend.     Day 6 (am) - Boavista

    4. august 2022, Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    A bit grey, so went for a local stroll, starting with a coffee. Then a 15 minute walk to Boavista, stopping at the Secret garden, then onto Casa Musica and the Mercardo Bon successo. Another lovely place full of eateries. Had seafood and wine🍷 for £20, including barnacle tasting! Back to hotel for a bit of sun before going out to townLæs mere

    Day 6 (pm) Taylors

    4. august 2022, Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    Into our bestest clothes, then off in an Uber taxi to Taylors for our Anniversary Dinner. Gorgeous- Lovely egg starter, then Turbot for Mark and Entrecote for Helen, alongside a nice bottle of wine. Back across the bridge then up the steps to old town for the bus, only to find there were no more buses. Got an Uber (4 euros!) with a lovely guy, who returned Helens lost glasses the next nightLæs mere

    Day 7 - a long cloudy stroll

    5. august 2022, Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    Another misty and cloudy start. Ended up just doing the very long walk into Ribeira and back. Coffee on the river after seeing the long legged ducks, then we found Mirajazz up some steps for a first drinks stop. Barman advised on local nightlife, then we carried onto the Market and had some local wine 🍷. Stopped at the Vintage bar on the way back for a salad, then back to base after 11 miles of walking! Considered going back to town for Barracudas, where a local rockabilly band - the Meam devils - were playing, but a midnight start was too late for us old fogiesLæs mere

    Final day

    6. august 2022, Wales ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

    Grey again, so got packed up and walked to Mercardo bon successo. Had a coffee, then some nice Chouffe beers and lunch (including some rogue padron peppers). Back to base for our transfer and onto the Plane home. Bye bye 👋 PortoLæs mere
