    Bala and Aberaeraon

    July 8 in Wales ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Down to Bala by 1pm Pen y bont campsite, pricey @ £53, but lovely to say the least. Had some chill time and chatted to neighbours from Wrexham, then into town for a pint at the White lion. Glorious weather in the 80s. Next day off to Aberaeron, 2 hours, a bit of sea mist when we arrived but it cleared up later. Short walk along the beach into town, had some food in Y Seler, then home to watch France in their world cup quarter final. Next morning, gorgeous weather, back into town for a coffee and a breakfast bap. Home for some chill time, then back out ending up at Y seler again, where we sat next to someone who went to Helens grammar school in Carmarthen. Small world and much sharing of shared friendships and teachers etc!Read more

  • Newport & St Davids

    July 11 in Wales ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Onto Newport, staying at Conifers again, this time in the bottom field with fab views. Had a walk into town and a pint at the castle inn then back to try our external bbq, upon which we had steak. Back to the parrot where we met Lucy and Jonathan and amazingly bumped into my old boss, Guy with Pip a d his son. Had a hug and some photos, genuine lovely moments t to briefly reminisce great tunes of nearly 40 years ago. Walked about of coastal path into Newport, via the parrog again. Back to base, chatted to our neighbours and spent the night in the van. On to lovely St Davids where we spent 3 chilled days based at glan-y-mor. Walked the coastal path via Caerfai bay, ate rubbish pasties, enjoyed England getting beat in the semi-final and caught bus into lovely Solva. Hats and barrels pub one to look out for next timeRead more

  • Milford, work, Cardiff & home

    July 16 in Wales ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

On down to Waterston near Milford haven, Grass roots campsite. Very nice, 10 minutes to training venue and some good activity at weekends, for the future. A little hike downhill to the ferry House inn, nice views onto the Cleddau and a fun chat to some guys in semi retirement mode. Short hop to the Course and Helen and Charlie visited the Milford waterfront. A suprisingly easy trip over to Cardiff, considering it was end of term. Had a pint at the plough before seeing Mum (had a spot of rain 🌧 wow!). Too knackered to go out again so crashed. Lovely neet up with little Wynn, Gua and Clwyd-Jones', then a brief pint with Andy and home in Cardiff by 7pm (note that the Squirrel allows campervans). A lovely 10 day break, in glorious sunshine, with a bit of work thrown in. £110 on fuel and £?? On campsites, averaged £40 per night!Read more
