Der Zirkus in Siem Reap ist eine sehr angesagte Attraktion, die auch bei den Einheimischen sehr beliebt ist. Wenn nicht gerade Pandemie ist, gibt es an 365 Tagen im Jahr eine Show.
Alle Darsteller des Zirkus wurden in der kambodschanischen Kunstschule PPSA ausgebildet.
Die PPSA wurde 1994 von neun jungen kambodschanischen Männern gegründet, die nach dem Fall der Roten Khmer aus einem Flüchtlingslager nach Hause zurückkehrten. Im Lager nahmen sie an Zeichenkursen teil und fanden, dass Kunst ein mächtiges Werkzeug zur Heilung ist. Als sie nach Hause zurückkehrten, begannen sie, Straßenkindern kostenlose Zeichenkurse anzubieten. Bald eröffneten sie eine Schule und boten schließlich eine formelle K-12-Ausbildung und professionelle Kunstausbildung in den Bereichen bildende Kunst, Theater, Musik, Tanz und Zirkus an. Heute besuchen täglich mehr als 1.200 Schüler die öffentliche Schule und 500 besuchen die beruflichen Kunstausbildungsprogramme. Alle Programme werden kostenlos angeboten.
Im Jahr 2013 gründete die PPSA mit dem Ziel der finanziellen Selbstversorgung, Phare Performing Social Enterprise (PPSE) mit drei Missionen:
- Schaffung sinnvoller Beschäftigungsmöglichkeiten für kambodschanische Künstler
- Schaffung von finanziell nachhaltigen Sozialunternehmen, die Phare Ponleu Selpak zuverlässige Einkommensströme bieten
- Revitalisierung des Kunstsektors in Kambodscha und Förderung der kambodschanischen Kunst lokal und international.

PPSA została założona w 1994 roku przez dziewięciu młodych Kambodżan, którzy wracali do domu z obozu dla uchodźców po upadku Czerwonych Khmerów. Na obozie wzięli lekcje rysunku i odkryli, że sztuka jest potężnym narzędziem leczniczym. Kiedy wrócili do domu, zaczęli oferować darmowe lekcje rysunku dla dzieci ulicy. Wkrótce otworzyli szkołę i ostatecznie zaoferowali formalną edukację K-12 i profesjonalne szkolenie artystyczne w zakresie sztuk wizualnych (ilustracja, malarstwo, projektowanie graficzne i animacja), dramatu, muzyki, tańca i cyrku. Obecnie ponad 1200 uczniów codziennie uczęszcza do szkoły publicznej, a 500 uczestniczy w profesjonalnych programach kształcenia artystycznego. Wszystkie programy oferowane są bezpłatnie.
W 2013 roku w celu uzyskania samowystarczalności finansowej PPSA założyła Phare Performing Social Enterprise (PPSE) z trzema misjami:

The circus in Siem Reap is a very popular attraction, which is also very popular with the locals. If it's not a pandemic, there's a show 365 days a year.
All actors of the circus were trained in the Cambodian art school PPSA.
The PPSA was founded in 1994 by nine young Cambodian men who returned home from a refugee camp after the fall of the Khmer Rouge. In the camp, they took part in drawing courses and found that art is a powerful tool for healing. When they returned home, they began to offer free drawing courses to street children. Soon they opened a school and finally offered a formal K-12 education and professional art education in the fields of visual arts (illustration, painting, graphic design and animation), theatre, music, dance and circus. Today, more than 1,200 students attend the public school every day and 500 attend the vocational art education programs. All programs are offered free of charge.
In 2013, the PPSA founded Phare Performing Social Enterprise (PPSE) with three missions with the aim of financial self-sufficiency:
- Creation of meaningful employment opportunities for Cambodian artists
- Creation of financially sustainable social enterprises that provide Phare Ponleu Selpak with reliable income streams
