    Ngala Village

    A village on Lake Malawi. Pics of traditional fishermen hauling in the night's catch, the village market, the orphan pre-school and the village school. There were 52 orphans in a village of 1500 people, many due to AIDS. There isn't an orphanage. local families care for the kids. The village school educates about 1500 students from the region in K through 8. As many as 200 kids in a class with one teacher. No, that is not a typo. We visited grade 5 which had 220 students with one teacher.Read more
