    Local village near Opuwo

    We visited a local village where people of 3 tribes living together, They speak the same language and can be distinguished by their dress. Only women and children are present as the men have the livestock in the bush for grazing. The pics are the welcoming group, a look at their manner of dress, the kitchen, grinding maize flour, bathing and dance. As they live in a very arid climate and water is much too far away to carry for bathing, the women "bathe" by a combination of smoke and rubbing a paste of ground red stone over their skin, hence the red skin tone.Read more
