    Pictures around town. The first picture is city hall. The arches in the second picture are at the front of city hall. You can find them in the first picture toward the right. The center arch is where Nelson Mandela appeared after his release from prison. The 3rd shot is the slave lodge where the Dutch East India Company kept their slaves. The statue is Queen Victoria, standing across the street from the slave lodge and in front of parliament. The last two pictures are if the company garden where the company grew fruit and vegetables for restocking ships. Over time it became more an arboretum of species brought their on the ships. The last is the oldest tree--a pear tree planted in the 1650s.Read more
