    Pucará de Tilcara

    A Pucará is a fortress built mostly by pre-incan groups after they made the transition from nomadic hunter-gatherers to settled agricultural communities. People would retreat here when the community was threatened. There are dwellings, food and water storage, etc. This Pucará is dated to around 900 CE. Also, some of this is restored, based on archaeological and anthropological guesses as to what this place might have looked like.Read more
