    Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo

    The island of Borneo is part Malaysia, part Indonesia. Sarawak and Sabah are the Malaysia part.
    Kuching is the capital of Sarawak. (Sabah comes later.) Kuching means cat, and there are many cat statues around town, like the small traffic rotary in the 1st picture, and the street art that was done for Independence. 3rd is a series of traditional shop houses of merchants across the street from the waterfront. 4th looks along the Sarawak River. The golden spire is the top of the state legislature building. 5th is a look along India Street, a pedestrian shopping street named for the many Indian traders who built up the area. Last is the officer's club built by the Japanese Army during WW II.Read more
