Waikiki

The famous beach along with the adjacent neighborhood. I stayed a block and a half from the beach.
The 1st pictures look along the beach on a cloudy, rainy day. The 3rd picture is similar to the 1st but with the sun out. 4th catches a surfer. (This is Hawaii, after all.). 5th is Diamond Head from Waikiki Beach. And last is a sunset over Waikiki.
I was surprised on my last day to find yellow police tape all along the beach. The state closed even Waikiki, and the police were enforcing the closure with arrests and pretty steep fines, I'm told. Somehow I didn't expect that.Read more
