Mariazell

Mariazell is a hub of winter sports in the Austrian Alps and is said to be a favorite ski destination in this part of the world. The town is also well known for its Basilica (see another post).
The 1st 2 pictures are in the Hauptplatz or main square. It is a lovely alpine town.
The other 2 pictures are taken from the top of the tower on top of Bürgeralte, the mountain behind Mariazell. While the weather wasn't all that great, these pictures give you a feel for why Mariazell is popular as a ski destination and as an area of spectacular scenery. There may be no snow in evidence, but I can say that while standing atop that tower, it certainly felt like snow was close.Читать далее
