    Barcelos is a municipality located in the district of Braga in northern Portugal.

    It is a small town located on the right bank of the Cavado River, in a green area. The city, which was the seat of the first county of Portugal and the residence of the first Duke of Braganza, is an active agricultural market and a renowned centre for the manufacture of pottery, santons, carved yokes and especially decorative roosters.
