  • Arrived in Dublin - Athboy

    September 5, 2017 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Landed in Dublin 3pm Tuesday, having had only a 2hr stop over in Abu Dhabi. Collect car and made our way to our friends in Athboy.
Greeted warmly by Tracey and Drew. We had just missed Caitlin as she had a Camogie semi-final. Paul arrived home from work and set up the BBQ to roast the chicken, Drew took the girls out the front to teach them hurling. Funny! Kids got the hang of it after a bit (Jess just wanted to smash it).. Great to see our friends 💖Read more

Visited the castle and went to the top of the Keep (all 100 steps).

We drove through a cute little village called Ballycommon, and we thought it would be a great place for Hil, Jim and the kids to live. Turns out it's where they are looking and where the kids go to school.

Had yummy crepes and coffee at the garden centre, got the key and off we went looking for the Cairns and portal tombs.
Walked up to mountain to the Cairns (with the sheep). Unlocked the gates to an ancient tomb (just us and a couple of locals). Inside was quite small, though we were able to stand. The wall still had remnants of ancient drawings. Em was trying to predict the weather 😂, she was as good at that as she was walking back down the hill!
At 8 pm we watched Caitlin win her Gaelic football semi final. Freezing but fun!
