The Lone Sailor statue in San Francisco is a tribute to all sea service members, located at Vista Point on the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge, dedicated in 2002 to represent those sailing out for duty. A replica of the main statue at the U.S. Navy Memorial in D.C., this bronze figure, modeled after Petty Officer 1st Class Dan Maloney, stands on a compass rose with surrounding plaques honoring the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine, offering a poignant farewell view of the Pacific for departing service members.
