TravelerWhat is that beautiful structure with all the wood and greenery? How old is "Old Sarria" -- it looks really ancient. The menu looks tasty, though.
TravelerIt is a wall of the building. I did not noticed any signs on the front.
TravelerSarria's history runs deeper than the Middle Ages. The area is rich in megalithic monuments, petroglyphs, and hill forts that date back to Roman and Neolithic times. The town itself was officially founded in the 12th century by King Alfonso IX of León, who actually passed away in Sarria in 1230 while on his own pilgrimage to Santiago (very 1st Pilgrimage hence that route is known as Camino Primitivo)
