    May 26 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

Capilla de la Magdalena (Chapel of Saint Mary Magdalene) Located about 12 km (7.5 miles) southwest of Palas de Rei, this 19th-century chapel was built using stone from an old medieval pilgrim hospital. It is a highly popular stop to get your credential stamped and enjoy the shaded rest area.

The Cruceiro de Lameiros is one of the most unique, famous, and artistic monuments on the French Way, dating back to the year 1674. It is located in the hamlet of Lameiros, part of the parish of Ligonde, on the border between the municipalities of Palas de Rei and Monterroso (Lugo).
    Features of the *Crucero*

The Two Faces: Unlike most Galician stone crosses (*cruceros*), this one features two main images.

On the east-facing side (from which pilgrims approach), stands the Crucified Christ, symbolizing the suffering, pain, and sacrifice inherent to the route.

On the west-facing side (the one the pilgrim sees after passing the monument), stands the figure of the Virgin of Sorrows, representing the comfort, relief, and hope of the journey yet to come.

The Base of the Calvary: The four sides of its square base feature sculpted reliefs depicting the Symbols of Christ's Passion: skulls (representing death), hammers, nails, and crowns of thorns.

The Shaft: The central post or column of the monument displays intertwined reliefs of these same religious motifs.
