    Day 1 in Bangkok

    October 21, 2022 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

We arrived at around 8 am in our hotel (Ramada Plaza) and couldn’t help but fall asleep for 2,5h to finally get some desperately needed sleep. Neither of us slept much on the flight and surprisingly Pascal’s sleeping pills + Gin Tonic + Red Wine strategy didn’t work out either.

After failing to properly install the local Uber app (“Grab”) we decided to go the old fashioned way and asked the receptionist to order us a taxi to the city center where we had booked a tour for 1 pm. After 4( min in congested traffic we arrived in time at the meeting point. Mina, our precious local guide led our group to Wat Pho & Wat Arrun and explained with utmost passion her culture and gave us deep insights into Buddhism, Thailand’s history and the royals. Overall, we saw an incredible amount of temples and statues and even received our blessings from a monk. What could possibly go wrong from now on!?

Our group was super cool and rich in cultural backgrounds with American, Canadian/Irish; Jewish; Southafrican/Australian and German. The best part was riding water taxis and Tuk Tuks together like a gang. 😂

Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaeo) as the temple was already closed when we got there. Mina then decided to take us for a stroll through famous China Town and invited everyone for a delicious dumpling and fish balls noodle soup 🍜 which totally made up for it. We definitely had a blast today and are now enjoying a few more street food bites (and drinks) before getting some proper rest tonight. What a fantastic start - we’re already in love with Thailand!! 😍
